Adrian George

Adrian George was born in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. He studied at Harrow School of Art and then at the Royal College of Art between 1964 and 1967. A star pupil of his generation at the College on graduating he participated in his first New York exhibition. He was immediately very well received and described as ‘one of the few artists who can still draw’. Subsequently he has held five one-man exhibitions in London the most recent being in 1982. At the same time he has been shown in France, Germany and Japan. He has contributed to many magazines and newspapers. Adrian George’s work is in the collection of H.M. The Queen, The Victoria and Albert Museum and many private collections. In 1981 George was commissioned by the British Government to design four postage stamps which later won the prestigious Golden Stamp Award in international competition as the most beautiful stamps in the world. George also designed the series of Christmas Stamps in 1985.
